Schools Programme

KYC work with two local schools; Richard Atkins Primary School and City Heights E Act Academy secondary school. Both schools have been very encouraging and positive in supporting our work.

Richard Atkins Primary School

The KYC team lead assemblies on a regular basis. We have covered topics including enterprise, taking positive risks and heroes. The team also provide support for a group of boys in Year 5. This support has involved the boys developing communication, leadership and team work. Most these boys also attend our Friday night Juniors session.

City Heights

The team spend one lunchtime per week in the school yard at City Heights. We provide additional activities and support for the young people. This partnership has led to KYC delivering London Youth’s City Leader’s programme within the school from September.

Street Programme

KYC has been delivering a street based programme for a few years. Our Street Team are out three times per week. The team spend time developing relationships with young people, parents/carers and other residents. The team also deliver a number of activities on the street as well as mediating any conflict we come across.

International Social Action projects

KYC want to show young people that anything is possible. We have taken groups to serve the poor in Rwanda, Romania, Dominican Republic and Sri Lanka. Each trip has involved young people working very hard on a number of practical/housing projects. There have been opportunities to see the sights when not working.

Looking at either Moldova or Peru next…
